Before any intimist and decorator, Vuillard expresses the daily poetry of this closed, a little bit stifling universe, invaded by objects and by materials, where, in a way which is usual him, he plays on tiny nuances of tones.
In delicate harmonies, which base themselves as in a tapestry, Vuillard that suggested the forms to make better the intimate sweetness of this decoration, as well as the solitude and the incommunicability between beings, even very close.
He favored nevertheless the intimist scenes and the bourgeois inside, liking painting people “at their home”
